Project title: ADVANCED METALLIC, NANOSTRUCTURED BIOMATERIALS, FOR ORTOPEDIC IMPLANTS

Abstract

The project goal is to obtain a new advanced, nanostructured metallic biomaterial with mechanical properties and high biocompatibility, for orthopedic implants execution. The researched alloy, titanium based and including alloying elements which were classified as non-toxic in cytotoxicity tests, belongs to the Ti-Ta-X system (X = Nb, Zr , Mo). This alloy will be processed by Severe Plastic Deformation, resulting in an advanced biomaterial, with nanocrystalline structure, having high mechanical properties and biocompatibility.
