Project title: MOLECULAR MARKERS AS A COMMON BASIS FOR MALIGNANT EPITHELIAL TUMOR SCREENING

Project number: PNII 42-158

Acronym: EPIMARK

Abstract:

Taking into account that the mechanisms triggering tumor genesis processes are partly elucidated and that the incidence of cancer occurrence remains stable, it is necessary to implement population molecular screening strategies in Romania. In this context we propose to establish a tumor bank (pilot), to integrate clinical, paraclinical, anatomopathological and molecular biology data, and study BRCA1 / 2, CDH1, HER2/neu, EGFR, CTNNB1, APC genes and their proteins in order to identify a set of markers with prognostic value for carcinomas.
